Klaus moje glass acquisition

Klaus was one of those who, more than twenty years ago, helped establish Canberra Glassworks as one of the largest facilities for glass making in the southern hemisphere. Since it’s opening in 2007 Canberra Glassworks has been a destination for Australian and visiting international glass artists wanting to practice and develop their art.

Ahead of its 20th anniversary in 2027, Canberra Glassworks is campaigning to acquire two of Klaus’s landmark works, Chromatic Evolution 1 (2012) and 2 (2013) to be permanently installed within what is planned to be the Kingston Arts Precinct, with the glassworks at its heart.

Klaus helped shape Australian studio glass through his generosity and expertise. This acquisition ensures the legacy of Klaus’s teachings, mentoring and expertise remains embedded at the heart of that future, accessible to glass artists and audiences for generations to come.

The biennial Ausglass conference - the next to be held in Sydney, early 2027 - is a premier event for practitioners, collectors, industry and all those interested in Australian art glass. Each conference program brings together Australian and international artists and showcases the best and latest in contemporary Australia glass.

As a part of the Klaus Moje Projekt future Ausglass conferences will include the Klaus Moje Address; delivered by a selected artist, talking on a subject that relates to the principles and legacy of Klaus’s career.

Ausglass is proud to be a part of The Projekt and in this way honoring the influence of Klaus Moje to contemporary Australian glass.

master classes and bursaries(proposed)

Our plans include the prospect of Biennial Intensive Master classes to provide opportunities for experienced artists to develop in technique, ways of thinking and personal exploration that will help to create work that is inherently personal and innovative. There will be an emphasis on technique, the theory and practice of effective and efficient form making, conceptualizing a work and the inextricable relationship between these fundamental and fascinating aspects of making art with glass.

The Klaus Moje Projekt Advisory Group will seek advice from relevant communities to provide potential artists to lead the biennial Intensive and, dependent on size of classes, will provide a number of full and partial bursaries awarded to participants through peer assessment.
